the game started with one or two of the meaty challenges you’d expect from a localish derby game, but thankfully it improved from there and a decent encounter ensued. The first half ended goalless but not for the lack of trying…
We had Myles Wright to thank for keeping the ball out of our net with an excellent blocked save from Jordan Turner rushing out to the edge of his area narrowing the sight of goal that the former Staveley forward had…and were prevented from taking the lead by the crossbar when Adam Lund up from the back got on the end of a corner.
The hosts piled on the pressure in the second half and were unlucky not to take the lead with just five minutes remaining. But, Jordan Turner headed Macole Lannamans cross wide at the far post and they were made to pay when with just two minutes on the clock “super sub” Kurtis Morley reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box to score.. and made sure we progressed to the next round by taking advantage of the space left by Hallam pushing forward in search of an equaliser by applying the finishing touch to a square ball from Tomas Poole in the dying seconds of the match.
Final Score: Hallam 0 – 2 Trojans
