The lads went toe to toe with one of the favourites for the league title and matched them for most of the game before just coming up short in the end.
Ryon Blott put the Pikes 1-0 up with a shot from the edge of the area on 34 minutes and a great penalty save from Birthday boy Matty Leese made sure that thats the way it stayed going into the break.
After the restart Staveley plugged away and got their reward with twelve minutes left with a well taken freekick from Kurtis Morley and they almost won it at the death but Harry Andrews saved well from Robson Doolan and put his side on the attack from which Callum Terrell was able to slot home and win it for the home side.
Good performance despite the end result but the fans enjoyed it nonetheless.
The reserves were 3-2 up away at Harworth Colliery but the match was abandoned with ten minutes left due to an injury to the Harworth goalkeeper.
