Retford FC v Trojans

After a few weeks of intense fitness work preparations for the new season continued with an early evening kick about with Central Midlands League outfit Retford FC.

Sam Finlaw went close early on with an effort from the edge of the box, as did a lively Liam Greenfield who twice came in from the right hand side before firing a deflected shot wide and forcing a save from the keeper with the second. Staveley held the lions share of possession but didn’t have it all their own way and had Matty Leese to thank either side of the break when he firstly smothered at the feet of former Trojan Adam Scott and then flicked a long range effort over the bar.

The match was settled in the sixty eighth minute by Sam Fnlaw with another effort from the edge of the box.
