Short report: Trojans v Lincoln United


The Trojans progressed to the First Qualifying round of the Fa Cup thanks to a ninth minute goal from in form Michael Burke who made it four from five racing clear onto Tomas Pooles headed flick on before adding a clinical finish arrowing the ball into the bottom corner across goalkeeper Micheal Emery.

Matty Davies added a stunning second after great work from Morgan James winning the ball back for Staveley before supplying Davies on the right overlapping run from Jordan slack took Noel Burdett with him allowing Davies space to cut infield and unleash a curling left footed strike from outside the box right into the top corner!

Alberto Seidi pulled one back late on with a flicked header and the higher leagued piled on the pressure in the remaining minutes but Staveley weathered the late storm to put themselves in that famous hat for Tuesdays first qualifying round draw.

Final Score: Staveley 2 – 1 Lincoln United

The Reserves made it a double winning weekend for Staveley by recording a 2-3 away win over Crowle Colts.

Both sides next game is on 31st August 2019 were our Reserves travel to Askern for a 3pm kick off and the first team is at home again in the other national Fa Competition: the Buildbase Vase where Cheadle Town visit Inkersall Road for a 3pm kick for the third time in five seasons!
