Our young Trojans continued their great start to the season with a win over Harworth Colliery U21s. They were made to work hard for it though by the visitors who equalised Leo Edgars 28th minute opener with some decent play down the right hand side that was finished off with a fine strike, passed into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
The scores looked like being level at the break but just before the referee blew his whistle Jason Carter picked out Dan Shelbourne who rose, unmarked to head home, putting Staveley back in front.
In the second half Danny Fullwood punished a mistake by the visitors defence an Elliott Barnard neat turn and finish and Regan Jays refusal to give up on a lost cause forced an own goal…to make the game look on paper a little bit more comfortable than it arguably was.
That result added to the 4-1 away win over Sheffield FC u21 last Friday means that Joe Tomlinsons side now sit top of the North Midlands Development League:North with three wins from three!
They put that 100% record on the line next on: Wednesday 11th October at Stocksbridge Park Steels Stadium at Bracken Moor ( S36 2AN) where they face a Sheffield United U21 side that are currently in 5th place having drawn two and lost one of their games so far…
