Staveley MW 2 - 2 Athersley Rec

30/09/2017 - 3:00 pm at Inkersall Road - S43 3JL

The Trojans were finally back on home soil after putting in the miles of late and Kurtis Morley with his seventh of the season gave them the lead via the penalty spot, early on.

that lead didn’t last too long however as, Lee Garside equalised for the visitors with a header from a free kick to level things at half time.

A superb looping shot from former Trojan, Tom Copping gave Athersley the lead at the start of the second half but Callum Lythams cool finish set up a barnstorming end to the game where both sides had decent chances to take all three points but both had to settle for just the one in the end.

Elsewhere… the Staveley Reserve side won 2-0 away at Brodsworth Welfare with goals from Mike Taylor and Nathan “Reg” Hollingworth. Which added to the U21s superb 1-4 win over Sheffield FC on Friday night.

next up… the Under 21s have a chance to build on an impressive start to the season when they welcome Harworth Colliery to Inkersall Road for a 7:45pm kick off on Monday 2nd October.

The First team travel to Thackley on “Non League Day” Saturday 7th October for a 3pm kick off and the supporters bus will be setting off for Dennyfield at 12pm-ish  costing £10.

If you cant make that trip then the Reserves are also in action next Saturday 7th October at 3pm and they are at home to Phoenix.
