the lads progressed to the next round of the Fa Cup following a stunning first half performance which saw them three goals to the good at half time….
Matty Davies got things going as early as the third minute when he collected a clever pass from a Robson Doolans freekick and rolled the ball past a wrong footed James Lambley in the visitors goal. it was two just ten or so minutes later with Liam Greenfield adding the finishing touch to Conner Williamsons headed cross from the right.
Tyla Bell made it three after latching onto an Adam Baskerville flicked header and outpacing the defence to slot home then, after the break Baskerville treated himself to a goal by nodding home a Matty Davies corner.
The visitors scored what looked likely to be just a consolation when Cameron Johnson hit the post but smashed home the rebound which fell kindly at the former Staveley mans feet on sixty seven minutes but when Harrison Holland grabbed another with ten minutes to go it might have given them a bit of a lift but…they weren’t going to spoil the staveley fans day and their team upped it a gear had more chances to score and in the end ran out comfortable winners
Staveley MW 4 – 2 Boston Town
That win secures an Preliminary Round tie at home once again to Lutterworth Town who today defeated Heanor Town 2-1 which will be played on August 25th.
All of the lads played a part today and that was reflected in the man of the match vote where in the end two players couldn’t be separated so the Chairman stepped in and took the unprecedented move of saying both could be Man of the Match – so well done to M & T Transmissions sponsored Liam Greenfield and Sam Finlaw, who his sponsored by Bob Jacques.
