Staveley MW 5-1 Hemsworth MW
This one turned out to be less tough than an encounter with “the Wells” usually is and we were infront with just four minutes on the clock…
In the centre circle Pat Lindley headed Joshua Womacks goal kick back in the direction it came from where it was picked up by Tomas Poole who was able to take it round Womack and crucially stay on his feet as the visiting ‘keeper almost “tuck” him out trying to get to the ball and slotted it into the empty net.

Just three minutes later Will Eades brought th eball out of defence and found Declan Howe with his back to goal with defender Andrew Higgins in close attention a touch to his left took Howe clear of Higgins and facing the right way where a strike from the edge of the box flew in!.

Poole very nearly made it three after latching onto a ball from Charlie Bell he flicked it high and over Harry Viggars and then raced onto the ball getting there before the onrushing ‘keeper Womack lifting it over him only to see Higgins clear it off the line for a corner..not to worry though as from that corner Charlie Oglesby scored with a far post header!

With just 22 minutes gone the visitors “mountain to climb” went from Everest to K2 in winter (apparently its hard to climb in winter and has only been achieved once – in January of 2021!) when Declan Dawson was sent off for a “robust” challenge on Pat Lindley.—to be fair to Dawson he apologized and might’ve got away with a yellow in “old money” but not in 2021.
Hemsworth did pull one back before half time with arguably the goal of the day, Kane Swinburn hitting one from all of 25 yards or more over Rio Alberry crashing it in off the underside of the crossbar.

Any thoughts of an unbelievable comeback were crushed in the 54th minute with Sam Kay in a roaming midfield general role mopped up at the back finding Charlie Bell who found Cameron Foulkes, he in turn looped a pass into Tomas Poole who nipped in between a defender who had left the ball after hearing a shout from his ‘keeper Josh Womack who hadn’t quite got there yet. With as good a first touch as you’ll see all season Poole killed it stone dead and slotted it in with his second with Womack in no mans land at the edge of his box.
Trojans 4-1 Hemsworth MW
We weren’t done yet Poole nearly grabbed our fifth and a hatrick with a stunning half volley which struck the far post but a fifth did come along but it was Declan Howe who capped a fine team goal collecting a back heeled flick from Marley Grant to end a thirteen pass move before going past three or four defenders and clipping it in over a diving Womack.
